Core Principles

What We Believe

  1. There is a college out there looking for you

    • The traditional admissions model has students adapting and assimilating to meet the needs of the colleges they are interested in. Our model centers around the idea that there are almost 4,000 in America and additional options abroad. There is a college out there for every student that will value, admit, and provide financial support for them. Our role is to direct students to the right match and help them any obstacles

  2. Everything you think you know about admissions is a lie

    • We recognize that there is a lack of transparency in admissions and bad actors who take advantage of students and caretakers to enrich themselves. From SAT, ACT, Test Prep, and Test-Optional/Test-Free policies to Applications, Essays, Financial Aid, and Scholarships- misinformation is running rampant.

How We Show up

  1. We Help Black girls go to College

    • Our signature program- The College Admissions Support Group©- provides support to Black female students at all academic levels identify a 2 to 4 year college that values, appreciates, and respects them. The College Admissions Support Group© provides the space for Black female students to explore their unique needs, be seen and heard, process their K-12 academic experiences, explore higher education opportunities, and identify colleges that will provide financial support

  2. We Help Black Girls graduate from College

    • In addition to the College Admissions Support Group© we provide support for students after they are admitted. Whether that be financial aid appeals to lower the cost of higher education, support to help students attend orientation and move in, academic advising after enrollment, connecting students to on-campus or off-campus services as needed, emergency financial assistance, and/or emotional support, we do everything in our power to ensure our College Admissions Support Group© alumni have what they need to graduate from the institution they enroll in.

  3. We support underrepresented students

    • In addition to our work serving Black female students, we support students from groups underrepresented in higher education identify, apply, enroll and move into college. These students include students with disabilities, first-generation students, and students who are from historically-excluded backgrounds. We have helped those students apply for disability accommodations or appeal accommodation issues, found providers to meet their needs, helped students with move-in cost, etc.

  4. We develop community and Online initiatives

    • From college admissions workshops to pro-bono SAT and ACT test prep groups, to free online workshops with admissions and financial aid officers, to gathering and disturbing donations to pay for testing and/or application costs, to connecting students with support services they need to graduate high school and be successful in college we show up for students in our community in the ways they need and provide funding/support to launch student initiatives

  5. We direct students to career pathways

    • We recognize that college is not for everyone. We learn about and partner with technical and career training initiatives within our community to ensure every student is put on the pathway that suits their needs after graduation. We have worked with students to develop skillsets and find training programs. We help students with applications to apply to Prince William County speciality programs and post-high school programs.

  6. We advocate for better policies to support students

    • We work with legislators and policymakers as well as higher education professionals to develop policies to better serve students and provide more students access to a debt-free or affordable higher education pathway. From advocating for and providing support to test-optional and test-free institutions to working with institutions to develop, promote, and/or bring awareness to equitable policies, practices and programs. We work to reduce the barriers to higher education

How you can support
